What is Extended Services?

Extended Services is a government initiative started in 2004 set out to provide better outcomes for every child by providing children young people and families access to a ‘Core Offer’ of services in their community. Details of the ‘core offer’ can be found in the tab to the left.  The way these services are delivered is different for every school and community. This website should show you how it looks in the Selby Area.

Selby Extended Services works with schools and communities in areas around Selby to help them to provide access to childcare, learning and development opportunities, additional out of school activities, fun activities for children young people and families in the holidays and information on local support available for children, young people, parents/carers and the wider community.

All of these services are called Extended Services.

All Extended Services do not have to be provided in the school or by the school; however the school should be able to provide parents/carers with information in order for them to be able to access these services locally.
