The Government has given us money for children who are eligible for Free School Meals or who are “looked after” i.e. in care, to take part in additional out of school activities. If your child qualifies and they attend one of the Selby schools involved in the pilot (listed below) and they would like to take part in an activity, all you need to do is contact Selby Extended Services or the contact person at your child’s school who will help you to complete an application form. This scheme is currently only a pilot in selected schools but available to all schools in the Selby District area from 1st April 2010.
Information sessions for schools who will be included from April will be taking place in March 2010. For details of when there will be one at your school please contact your head teacher or Extended Services on 01757. If you know your child is eligible and you know an activity your child would like to attend bring the contact information for the provider with you to the information session and we will be able to process your application on the day.
If you are eligible for Free School Meals but are not claiming them you could miss out. Claiming Free School meal also helps increase your schools funding.
