Support for Groups Working with Children

Extended Services also aim to support groups who provide activities and opportunities for children and young people in Selby.

Courses and Training Events

We will attach any information we receive on training courses in the area. These could be organised by ourselves, or a number of partner agencies who we support by distributing their information.

Stem Club

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Club is open to anyone working with children, ie teachers, community groups, guide & scout leaders etc. It is designed to equip staff in educational roles with a series of new curriculum-based activities for classroom or after school club delivery.

We also have a selection of giant games (see attached) which are available for schools and community groups to borrow.

See the brochure attached to this page for details of the forthcoming STEM workshops.

Resources

We have been gathering a number of resources for groups and organisations to loan/borrow in order for them to provide a wider range of activites, or for use in supporting fund raising events. Most of these resources have been provided with the support of NYBEP (North Yorkshire Business Enterprise Partnership), who also run the STEM club every month or so at Brayton College (see attached poster).

Science Kits

We have a variety of science kits. Some cost nothing to make, and some just require paper, scissors, glue etc. Others require the purchase of small items. We can purchase these items on your behalf, and you would need to charge your children/group for using them.

We also have a range of sports equipment, board games, toddler toys, cookery resources and access to the Practical Fundraising 4 Schools magazine.

The full list of equipment will be available on this website in the near future.

If you are interested in borrowing/ loaning any of our resources please contact Lorraine or Joanne
